Our Debt Management Program May Be Your Best Solution
Each year, thousands of people just like you contact a Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) agency for a debt management program because they are financially overextended. Their debt situations may have resulted from loss of income, medical bills, divorce or the simple overuse of credit. They are looking for a way to put their financial lives back on track. After a credit counseling session, your consumer credit counselor may recommend a debt management program as one method of resolving your financial concerns.
The First Step is a Consumer Credit Counseling Session
Scheduling a credit counseling appointment with one of our consumer credit counselors, trained and certified by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), is your first step towards a stable financial future. In preparation for your credit counseling session, we ask that you gather all your current financial information. After reviewing your household income and expenses, your credit counselor will review your income and expenses, and help you develop a monthly budget based on your personal financial situation. All counseling is private and confidential.
How Our Debt Management Program Works
At the end of your consumer credit counseling session with our Consumer Credit Counseling Service agency, your credit counselor will review all of your financial options with you. If it is appropriate for you, we can develop a debt management program (DMP) to help you get your financial life back on track. Participation is completely voluntary, and your debt action plan will be designed to fit your personal circumstances. If you decide to participate in our Consumer Credit Counseling Service agency's debt management program, there are modest costs. To find out the monthly fee or contribution of our Consumer Credit Counseling Service debt management program in your state, simply ask your credit counselor during your initial discussion. You are under no obligation to participate in any paid services with our CCCS agency.
Creditors generally recognize that those consumers who participate in our debt management program are serious about paying their debts. We work with your creditors to reduce your minimum monthly payments, asking for the reduction or elimination of interest charges, late fees and over-the-limit fees. By participating in our debt management program, you can pay off your debts with one simple payment each month.
Education is Our Mission
At our Consumer Credit Counseling Service agency, our goal is to help you get out of debt and to help you learn how to stay out of debt. Throughout your participation in a debt management program, we share ideas about how you and your family can build a stronger financial future. We provide informative newsletters and other educational materials to keep you up-to-date on important money management techniques. Your credit counselor is available to answer any questions you may have along the way.
